# Complex vs Alvoy

The clearest difference is ads: Complex at none against Alvoy's shown. Complex also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (1K vs 5). Alvoy's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Complex against 5.0 for Alvoy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Complex has 1K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 94% of Complex's written reviews are positive against 100% of Alvoy's.

Complex ships an update every 2 weeks, Alvoy every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
