# Complex vs tovu

The clearest difference is monetization model: tovu at free against Complex's free with in-app purchases. Complex's advantage is ratings volume (1K vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Complex against 5.0 for tovu. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Complex has 1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Complex ships an update every 2 weeks, tovu every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
