# MD Companion vs TopoRec

The clearest difference is rating: TopoRec at 5.0 against MD Companion's 4.3. TopoRec also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 months). MD Companion's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TopoRec sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $17.99 per year. MD Companion asks for nothing beyond the download.

TopoRec holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MD Companion has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of MD Companion's written reviews are positive against 90% of TopoRec's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MD Companion ships an update every 3 months, TopoRec every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
