# Hack IT vs Hack Ex 2

The clearest difference is monetization model: Hack Ex 2 at free with in-app purchases against Hack IT's subscription. Hack Ex 2 also leads on rating (4.3 vs 3.8) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 5 months). Hack IT's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (65% vs 48%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hack IT sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Hack Ex 2 sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hack Ex 2 holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hack IT has 429 ratings behind it against 83, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Hack IT's written reviews are positive against 48% of Hack Ex 2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hack IT ships an update every 5 months, Hack Ex 2 every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
