# StudyPug vs tutor.new

The clearest difference is monetization model: tutor.new at free with in-app purchases against StudyPug's subscription. tutor.new also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). StudyPug's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 3) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StudyPug sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and tutor.new sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

tutor.new holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StudyPug has 2.1K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of StudyPug's written reviews are positive against 50% of tutor.new's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

StudyPug ships an update every 8 days, tutor.new every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
