# AxCrypt vs Text Encrypter (Pro)

The clearest difference is rating: Text Encrypter (Pro) at 4.5 against AxCrypt's 3.3. Text Encrypter (Pro) also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2). AxCrypt's advantage is ratings volume (185 vs 31) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 12.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AxCrypt sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Text Encrypter (Pro) asks for nothing beyond the download.

Text Encrypter (Pro) holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AxCrypt has 185 ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of AxCrypt's written reviews are positive against 40% of Text Encrypter (Pro)'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
