# AxCrypt vs KryptoVault

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: KryptoVault at none against AxCrypt's 2. KryptoVault also leads on rating (3.5 vs 3.3). AxCrypt's advantage is ratings volume (185 vs 8) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AxCrypt sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. KryptoVault asks for nothing beyond the download.

KryptoVault holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AxCrypt has 185 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of AxCrypt's written reviews are positive against 40% of KryptoVault's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AxCrypt ships an update monthly, KryptoVault fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
