# AxCrypt vs File Password Keeper

The clearest difference is rating: File Password Keeper at 5.0 against AxCrypt's 3.7. File Password Keeper also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). AxCrypt's advantage is ratings volume (203 vs 1) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 10). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AxCrypt sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and File Password Keeper sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.00 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

File Password Keeper holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AxCrypt has 203 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AxCrypt ships an update monthly, File Password Keeper every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
