The clearest difference is update cadence: SchoolStatus Connect at every 2 months against The AAEA's every 12 months. SchoolStatus Connect also leads on ratings volume (2.2K vs 2). The AAEA's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The AAEA holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SchoolStatus Connect has 2.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SchoolStatus Connect ships an update every 2 months, The AAEA every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
