# Pineapple Pen vs Knife Spin

The clearest difference is ads: Knife Spin at none against Pineapple Pen's shown. Knife Spin also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 12.4). Pineapple Pen's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 38%) and ratings volume (6K vs 210). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pineapple Pen sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Knife Spin sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Knife Spin holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pineapple Pen has 6K ratings behind it against 210, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Pineapple Pen's written reviews are positive against 38% of Knife Spin's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Pineapple Pen ships an update fortnightly, Knife Spin every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
