# Travelear vs Ancestry Test

The clearest difference is ads: Travelear at none against Ancestry Test's shown. Travelear also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (66 vs 10). Ancestry Test's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks) and review sentiment (100% vs 88%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Travelear sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Ancestry Test sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Travelear holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Travelear has 66 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of Travelear's written reviews are positive against 100% of Ancestry Test's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Travelear ships an update every 2 weeks, Ancestry Test weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
