# MultiTone Generator vs Reson8

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Reson8 at none against MultiTone Generator's 7. Reson8 also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 8 days vs monthly). MultiTone Generator's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 50%) and ratings volume (355 vs 1). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MultiTone Generator sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Reson8 asks for nothing beyond the download.

Reson8 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MultiTone Generator has 355 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of MultiTone Generator's written reviews are positive against 50% of Reson8's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MultiTone Generator ships an update monthly, Reson8 every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
