# HK Traffic vs Compass

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HK Traffic at none against Compass's 4. HK Traffic also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 7 months). Compass's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (67% vs 35%). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Compass sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. HK Traffic asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for HK Traffic against 4.7 for Compass. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Compass has 2.4K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 35% of HK Traffic's written reviews are positive against 67% of Compass's.

HK Traffic ships an update every 3 weeks, Compass every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
