# PrivateVPN vs GreenVPN

The clearest difference is rating: PrivateVPN at 4.6 against GreenVPN's 3.6. PrivateVPN also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (5K vs 14). GreenVPN's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PrivateVPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and GreenVPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PrivateVPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PrivateVPN has 5K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PrivateVPN ships an update every 2 months, GreenVPN every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
