# FishDonkey vs Accuphy Sonar

The clearest difference is monetization model: Accuphy Sonar at free against FishDonkey's free with in-app purchases. FishDonkey's advantage is ratings volume (86 vs 7) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for FishDonkey against 3.9 for Accuphy Sonar. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FishDonkey has 86 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 69% of FishDonkey's written reviews are positive against 67% of Accuphy Sonar's.

FishDonkey ships an update every 3 weeks, Accuphy Sonar monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
