# Red Diary vs Swolenormous

The clearest difference is monetization model: Red Diary at free with in-app purchases against Swolenormous's subscription. Swolenormous's advantage is ratings volume (32 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Red Diary sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Swolenormous sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $29.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Red Diary against 4.9 for Swolenormous. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Swolenormous has 32 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Red Diary ships an update every 6 weeks, Swolenormous every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
