# REC vs Video Recorder Pro

The clearest difference is rating: Video Recorder Pro at 4.5 against REC's 3.8. Video Recorder Pro also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and ratings volume (304 vs 70). REC's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (55% vs 31%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. REC sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Video Recorder Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Video Recorder Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 70 and 304 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of REC's written reviews are positive against 31% of Video Recorder Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

REC ships an update monthly, Video Recorder Pro weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
