# Hidden msg vs Cutout

The clearest difference is rating: Hidden msg at 2.7 against Cutout's 2.0. Hidden msg also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). Cutout's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 14%). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cutout sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Hidden msg asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hidden msg holds the better App Store score, 2.7 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hidden msg has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Hidden msg's written reviews are positive against 50% of Cutout's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hidden msg ships an update every 3 months, Cutout every 7 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
