# TOR Browser vs TOR Browser

The clearest difference is monetization model: TOR Browser at free with in-app purchases against TOR Browser's subscription. TOR Browser also leads on review sentiment (44% vs 31%) and chart position (#118 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TOR Browser sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days and TOR Browser sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for TOR Browser against 4.5 for TOR Browser. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 72K ratings behind it against 14K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of TOR Browser's written reviews are positive against 31% of TOR Browser's.

TOR Browser ships an update every 9 days, TOR Browser every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
