# Square Note vs Tarpup

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Square Note at 70 against Tarpup's 1. Square Note also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). Tarpup's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 4 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Tarpup holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Square Note has 70 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Square Note ships an update every 4 weeks, Tarpup every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
