# Firewalla vs Megacom Firewall

The clearest difference is rating: Firewalla at 4.5 against Megacom Firewall's 3.0. Firewalla also leads on ratings volume (736 vs 3) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.4). Megacom Firewall's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Firewalla holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Firewalla has 736 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Firewalla ships an update every 6 weeks, Megacom Firewall every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
