# MWeb vs Effie

The clearest difference is rating: MWeb at 4.5 against Effie's 4.3. MWeb also leads on ratings volume (153 vs 36). Effie's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 67%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MWeb sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and Effie sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $6.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MWeb holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 153 and 36 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of MWeb's written reviews are positive against 75% of Effie's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MWeb ships an update every 3 weeks, Effie fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
