# Map Area Calculator vs Distances Pro

Map Area Calculator and Distances Pro both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 76% of Map Area Calculator's written reviews are positive against 25% of Distances Pro's. Map Area Calculator also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (monthly vs every 7 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Map Area Calculator sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Distances Pro sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Map Area Calculator against 4.5 for Distances Pro. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Map Area Calculator has 4.8K ratings behind it against 38, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 76% of Map Area Calculator's written reviews are positive against 25% of Distances Pro's.

Map Area Calculator ships an update monthly, Distances Pro every 7 months. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
