# Map Area Calculator vs PCT Sampling

The clearest difference is rating: PCT Sampling at 5.0 against Map Area Calculator's 4.5. PCT Sampling also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 6) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Map Area Calculator's advantage is ratings volume (4.8K vs 2) and chart position (#141 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Map Area Calculator sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. PCT Sampling asks for nothing beyond the download.

PCT Sampling holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Map Area Calculator has 4.8K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
