# Coursicle vs Professor Index

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Professor Index at 88% against Coursicle's 38%. Professor Index also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 17) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Coursicle's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Coursicle sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Professor Index asks for nothing beyond the download.

Coursicle holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Coursicle has 822 ratings behind it against 59, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Coursicle's written reviews are positive against 88% of Professor Index's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Coursicle ships an update every 9 days, Professor Index monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
