# SimpleTip vs RYOBI

SimpleTip and RYOBI both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 75% of SimpleTip's written reviews are positive against 30% of RYOBI's. RYOBI's advantage is price (Free vs $0.99) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 8 months). On rating, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

RYOBI is free to download; SimpleTip costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for SimpleTip against 4.7 for RYOBI. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RYOBI has 13K ratings behind it against 144, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of SimpleTip's written reviews are positive against 30% of RYOBI's.

SimpleTip ships an update every 8 months, RYOBI fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
