# Elphinstone vs SpacesEDU

The clearest difference is rating: SpacesEDU at 2.0 against Elphinstone's 1.0. SpacesEDU also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (21 vs 1). Elphinstone's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and iOS requirement (13.4 vs 15.1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SpacesEDU holds the better App Store score, 2.0 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SpacesEDU has 21 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Elphinstone's written reviews are positive against 7% of SpacesEDU's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Elphinstone ships an update every 2 months, SpacesEDU every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
