# Car Camera DVR vs DashMap

Car Camera DVR and DashMap both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 62% of Car Camera DVR's written reviews are positive against 25% of DashMap's. Car Camera DVR also leads on ratings volume (379 vs 5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.5). DashMap's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Car Camera DVR sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and DashMap sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DashMap holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Car Camera DVR has 379 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Car Camera DVR's written reviews are positive against 25% of DashMap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Car Camera DVR ships an update fortnightly, DashMap every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
