# Shepper vs Gener8

The clearest difference is rating: Gener8 at 4.7 against Shepper's 1.5. Gener8 also leads on ratings volume (5.2K vs 4) and update cadence (every 11 days vs monthly). Shepper's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Gener8 holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gener8 has 5.2K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Shepper's written reviews are positive against 41% of Gener8's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shepper ships an update monthly, Gener8 every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
