# MagicStrip vs STAR LIGHTING

The clearest difference is rating: STAR LIGHTING at 3.2 against MagicStrip's 2.6. STAR LIGHTING also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months). MagicStrip's advantage is ratings volume (988 vs 15) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 11.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

STAR LIGHTING holds the better App Store score, 3.2 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MagicStrip has 988 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of MagicStrip's written reviews are positive against 33% of STAR LIGHTING's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MagicStrip ships an update every 2 months, STAR LIGHTING every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
