Similartist turns Apple Music's related artists into a path you can follow. Pick one artist. Listen to a few songs from each related artist, choose the one that grabs you, and move on. After five steps, the route you took is saved as a "Trail": a record of how you got from one artist to another, in your own taste. HOW A TRAIL WORKS • Start from an artist you search for, one that's popular right now, a genre, the song playing around you, or the last artist of your previous Trail • Each step shows related artists with three popular songs each, ready to preview • Open an artist's details for more songs, a short bio, and basics such as where they're from and who's in the band • Tap Next on the artist you like, and repeat five times. The list shows how many more you need to pick • In an artist's details, you can add an optional reaction • Finish the Trail and it's saved automatically START FROM WHAT'S PLAYING • Tap the microphone at the top right of Home to recognize the song around you (powered by ShazamKit) and start a Trail from its artist • If a song is playing in the Music app, its artist appears first among the popular artists on Home, so you can start there without the microphone YOUR TRAILS • Revisit every saved Trail: the route, the artists, and their songs • Preview each artist's popular songs, or "Retrace the Trail" to play one song per artist in order • Create an Apple Music playlist from a completed Trail (up to three songs per artist, in route order) • "Explore later" keeps artists you noticed so you can start from them another time • Siri and Shortcuts can start a Trail, open your recent or saved Trails, or continue one. Saved Trails also appear in Spotlight search SIMILARTIST PRO (ONE-TIME PURCHASE) • Tags and notes on saved Trails • Collections that organize Trails by conditions • Compare two Trails side by side • Taste Map: the artists across your Trails, including by country • Trail map: your route drawn across the artists' hometowns • Appearance: accent colors and alternate app icons Everything else (search, previews, playback, saving Trails, playlists, Shortcuts) is free. There are no ads, subscriptions, or accounts. ABOUT PLAYBACK Full songs play through Apple Music when you have a subscription. Without one, you can listen to the previews Apple Music provides. Every song links to its page in Apple Music. Artist bios and basics come from Wikipedia and Wikidata, with a link to the original article. Your Trails are stored on your device.
