# IVPN vs i2VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: IVPN at freemium against i2VPN's subscription. IVPN also leads on ads (none vs shown). i2VPN's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and review sentiment (86% vs 55%). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IVPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and i2VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

i2VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: i2VPN has 3.7K ratings behind it against 250, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of IVPN's written reviews are positive against 86% of i2VPN's.

IVPN ships an update every 2 months, i2VPN every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
