# Nova Scanner vs Scanner Vault

Nova Scanner and Scanner Vault both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 94% of Scanner Vault's written reviews are positive against 74% of Nova Scanner's. Scanner Vault also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (15K vs 819). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nova Scanner sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Scanner Vault sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Nova Scanner against 4.6 for Scanner Vault. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner Vault has 15K ratings behind it against 819, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of Nova Scanner's written reviews are positive against 94% of Scanner Vault's.

Nova Scanner ships an update every 2 months, Scanner Vault fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
