# Rinse FM vs Defected

The clearest difference is rating: Defected at 5.0 against Rinse FM's 4.4. Rinse FM's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 33%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Defected holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rinse FM has 35 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Rinse FM's written reviews are positive against 33% of Defected's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Rinse FM ships an update every 2 weeks, Defected every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
