# QR vs TOR Browser

The clearest difference is rating: TOR Browser at 4.5 against QR's 3.0. TOR Browser also leads on ratings volume (13K vs 2). QR's advantage is monetization model (free vs subscription) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. QR sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and TOR Browser sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TOR Browser holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 13K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of QR's written reviews are positive against 31% of TOR Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on June 1, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
