# EV Connect vs Shell

The clearest difference is review sentiment: EV Connect at 60% against Shell's 8%. EV Connect also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and device support (3 vs 1). Shell's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (88K vs 6.8K). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Shell holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shell has 88K ratings behind it against 6.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of EV Connect's written reviews are positive against 8% of Shell's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

EV Connect ships an update every 2 months, Shell monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
