# Notepad vs Smooth Note (with Folders)

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Smooth Note (with Folders) at 75% against Notepad's 54%. Smooth Note (with Folders) also leads on ratings volume (30 vs 3). Notepad's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Smooth Note (with Folders) sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notepad holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smooth Note (with Folders) has 30 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Notepad's written reviews are positive against 75% of Smooth Note (with Folders)'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Notepad ships an update every 4 days, Smooth Note (with Folders) every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
