# Encode vs Skill

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Encode at 89% against Skill's 31%. Encode also leads on ratings volume (6.4K vs 103) and rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encode sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Skill sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Encode holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encode has 6.4K ratings behind it against 103, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 89% of Encode's written reviews are positive against 31% of Skill's.

Encode ships an update every 2 weeks, Skill fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 1, 2026.
