# OONI Probe vs Segment VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Segment VPN at 100% against OONI Probe's 58%. OONI Probe's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (91 vs 6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

OONI Probe holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OONI Probe has 91 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of OONI Probe's written reviews are positive against 100% of Segment VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
