# Monkey Typer vs Speed Typer

The clearest difference is rating: Speed Typer at 4.7 against Monkey Typer's 4.0. Speed Typer also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (6.7K vs 4). Monkey Typer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 84%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Monkey Typer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Speed Typer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speed Typer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Typer has 6.7K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Monkey Typer's written reviews are positive against 84% of Speed Typer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Monkey Typer ships an update every 4 months, Speed Typer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
