# Monkey Typer vs wpm

The clearest difference is rating: wpm at 4.6 against Monkey Typer's 4.0. wpm also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (48 vs 4). Monkey Typer's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 82%) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Monkey Typer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. wpm asks for nothing beyond the download.

wpm holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: wpm has 48 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Monkey Typer's written reviews are positive against 82% of wpm's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Monkey Typer ships an update every 4 months, wpm every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
