# Contimote vs Universal Remote

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Universal Remote at 36% against Contimote's 6%. Universal Remote also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (315 vs 36). Contimote's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Contimote sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Universal Remote sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Contimote holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Universal Remote has 315 ratings behind it against 36, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 6% of Contimote's written reviews are positive against 36% of Universal Remote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Contimote ships an update every 11 months, Universal Remote fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
