# HamAlert vs On

The clearest difference is rating: On at 4.4 against HamAlert's 4.0. On also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). HamAlert's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 50%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 34 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of HamAlert's written reviews are positive against 50% of On's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HamAlert ships an update every 5 months, On monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
