# HamAlert vs Ham Radio Toolbox

The clearest difference is rating: Ham Radio Toolbox at 4.7 against HamAlert's 4.0. Ham Radio Toolbox also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (200 vs 34). HamAlert's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (67% vs 33%). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Ham Radio Toolbox holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ham Radio Toolbox has 200 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of HamAlert's written reviews are positive against 33% of Ham Radio Toolbox's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HamAlert ships an update every 5 months, Ham Radio Toolbox every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
