# EWA vs VOA English Learning

The clearest difference is ratings volume: EWA at 197K against VOA English Learning's 2.6K. EWA also leads on review sentiment (74% vs 52%) and chart position (#114 vs unranked). VOA English Learning's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EWA sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month and VOA English Learning sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for EWA against 4.8 for VOA English Learning. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EWA has 197K ratings behind it against 2.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of EWA's written reviews are positive against 52% of VOA English Learning's.

EWA ships an update weekly, VOA English Learning every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
