# ALA vs SimplySpeak

The clearest difference is update cadence: SimplySpeak at every 3 days against ALA's every 3 months. ALA's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ALA sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SimplySpeak sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ALA ships an update every 3 months, SimplySpeak every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
