# DropMint vs LightRes

The clearest difference is ads: DropMint at none against LightRes's shown. DropMint also leads on ratings volume (130 vs 1) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). LightRes's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

LightRes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DropMint has 130 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DropMint ships an update every 3 months, LightRes weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
