# Backgammon Online vs Backgammon GG

The clearest difference is rating: Backgammon GG at 4.4 against Backgammon Online's 2.8. Backgammon GG also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (97 vs 24). Backgammon Online's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Online sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Backgammon GG sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon GG holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 24 and 97 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Backgammon Online's written reviews are positive against 36% of Backgammon GG's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon Online ships an update every 5 months, Backgammon GG every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
