# MotionBook vs SimplyRead

The clearest difference is rating: SimplyRead at 5.0 against MotionBook's 4.2. MotionBook's advantage is monetization model (free vs paid) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MotionBook sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and SimplyRead sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SimplyRead holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MotionBook has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MotionBook ships an update every 2 weeks, SimplyRead weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
