# GW2 Assistant vs Heartforge

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: GW2 Assistant at none against Heartforge's 3. GW2 Assistant also leads on rating (4.1 vs 3.8) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Heartforge's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 75%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Heartforge sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. GW2 Assistant asks for nothing beyond the download.

GW2 Assistant holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of GW2 Assistant's written reviews are positive against 100% of Heartforge's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GW2 Assistant ships an update every 2 months, Heartforge every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
